Kim, in your reply to my post regarding a 1946 flathead achieving a certified 300+ mph 2-way run at Bonneville, and Land Speed Records, you stated that; >snip "Tony Zamisch, and his wife Rhonda (driver in the picture above), currently hold the Land Speed Record in an AMC car. Their 1970 AMC Javelin was clocked on radar at 192mph during the 1997 Silver State Classic Challenge. The car hit 216mph during 1998 winter tests. This Javelin's top speed has yet to be determined. You stated this Land Speed Record claim as if it were a fact, (which it is not), you did not post a link in your original reply to try and back it up, and until now, you did not say anything like - this information is according to the website Tony operates. You went on to tell us how weary you are of people posting "off the cuff." Now you are trying to clarify that what you meant to say was you "stated exactly what was in the web site," that Tony operates. As you say, now trying to clarify what you meant to say or meant to post, is now moot. We now know what you meant to say. However, someone claiming a land speed record on their own personal website does not make it a Land Speed Record. Following are just a couple of many websites that list recognized, certified, Land Speed Records, and the rules that must be followed to actually set a Land Speed Record. However, Tony's claim to a Land Speed Record does not seem to exist on any of the recognized USAC, FIA, SCTA, etc. Land Speed Record holder lists. See for your self. http://www.landracing.com/records/records.htm http://www.scta-bni.org/ Point is, you took a personal swipe at me with your claim that I was posting "off the cuff," and now you are painfully aware that you are actually guilty of posting "off the cuff" yourself, and were spreading misinformation. Rather than sticking to the facts, out of frustration, you resort to getting personal. I won't tell you to "get stuffed" as you told me to do, as that is all so childish, however, I will continue to post the facts, while you back pedal, in your attempt to clarify and justify your posted misinformation about actual Land Speed Records. PS - FYI, I did get stuffed on Thanksgiving Day and plan to do so again on Christmas Day.
