There was a show on TV's History Channel about Moon shine cars. It showed the old soup'ed up flathead Ford cars were the choice of the shine runners. It also showed real cars in a museum and a private collection of these original cars. In the mid 50's when the max hp was gotten out of these flathead Fords the next step was to swap in a stock Caddy or Olds V8 which had more hp in stock form than the soupe'd up flatheads. Nothing looks sweeter than a finned aluminum headed flattie with 2 Stromburge 97's on a on a 2 jug aluminum manifold. Or better yet how about an Ardun ohv conversion on a flattie. The man behind saving the Corvette and putting a V8 in it in 55 Duntov designed these heads so Ford flathead powered garbage trucks could make more hp. AMC content, I am taking my yellow Hornet out of the garage since it hasn't been out all week and going to my friends shop to scuff and clear coat the last wheel for my orange Hornet. Both should be dry enough to install monday if I am not snowed in. I been driving my 77 Malibu winter beater all week making sure it is ready for the winter. Monday we may be missed or get a dusting of snow or get a fair amount. The weather man is covering his ass since it appears he doesn't have a clue. "Doc"
