Hi Jaime, your probable best bet for shipping the wheels would be FedEx.
Usually about $20-$30 a rim, depending on type of rim. I use furniture
boxes, however, for high dollar rims like Machine rims will go buy boxes at
box places like Anchor Box for isntance, about $3-$4 a box, but they are
new. Inside the box I also put extra cardboard on the bottom of the box. And
will stuff the corners with paper so it will not bounce around as if you
don't and the wheel bounces around it could damage it.
Fixing to ship a NOS B. F. Goodrich Spacesaver to California, San Diego
area, about $40 to ship that but it is rim with tire however.
Something you could also try if near to you, is once a rim is boxed up to
ship, take it to USPS and get a quote, then UPS then FedEx, that way you can
tell your customer how much each is from all three places. Greyhound and
Amtrak are two other ways to ship rims, but I'm not willing to drive
downtown Houston to do that.
On the trans, I usually get a wooden plank that covers only the bottom of
the trans, then use lots of tape to wrap it to the board. Heavy duty duct
tape works best. Once done, then I will cover the whole mess with cardboard,
your best bet is old furniture boxes you can cut to fit and then tape again.
I have also used wooden crates found at furniture places, those work great
but also add shipping costs due to weight. Others results and shipping
methods may vary, like 1001 opinions on how to change lightbulb! Good luck
either way,
