Note: can't use "list" or any other command word AS THE FIRST WORD in the subject or body of a message. Singing up on the website where mail is read DOES NOT sign you up to the list itself, only for website access. You still have to sign up to the list from the main list page or send an e-mail to "subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxx" (no subject or body text needed). The list on the web IS NOT run by "the list", it's a free service offered by the site owner, Jim Stone. WixieList is commercial software written by Jim and used by a couple businesses as I understand it. All the WixieList software does is pass commands on to the list server, which handles them just like any other request directly from e-mail. It does no processing or checking. I'm not sure if Jim is still working on that package or not. If this becomes more of a problem I'll have to "lock down" the list so that no leave or join requests are processed without verification first. This means it will take up to three days before someone joins and starts receiving mail. How fast depends on how often the Admin (me) and assistants check the admin mail area. If there are continued complaints I'll do just that.
