Because some email programs allow a person to enter
in a different address or someone ELSE's Email
address, and doesn't care about the true source ( ie,
originator) address. So someone with this type of
email can enter in ANY email address to sign up for
anything, including YOURS, and there's nothing you can
do about it. I know this from experience, one company
I worked for had that type of Email system. It was
supposed to work on the principal that if you sent
something from work, or wherever, and wanted it to
return to another E-address ( ie, your home ) it would
do so, if work didnt' allow personal emails in, but
you could sneak some OUT. But of course, abuse always
occurs with this type of thing. If it can be abused,
it will be.
So, getting mad at these people who say they never
signed up for this is useless, and those who do get an
attitude should chill, because it's true that they
probably didn't, someone else with a
"return-to-3rd-party" email system probably did it as
a prank. Just show some understanding and unsubscribe
them, please. Unfortunately, that usually falls on the
Moderator of the list, but at least these don't happen
frequently.
