I think it's safe to say the standard flasher will not work (not enough resistance). You'll need to get an electronic flasher when you convert to LED lights. IIRC, JC Whitney sells some that play Elvis tunes if you're into that sort of thing.

resistance so sometimes you have to incorporate a resistor.

i haven't really looked, but the only thing i've seen is an led 1157
