" From: "Ian Cudmore" <yahootoo@xxxxxxxxxxx> " " " " 1. who with an auto transmission has put a 4v intake on their L6? and more " importantly, what did they do for a new kickdown linkage? i believe someone did it with their eagle [?], and used a lokar universal torqueflite cable and i think ford brackets on the carb. i don't know anyone who's done it with a warner auto but iirc my '67 marlin 232's had a vac kickdown hooked to the manifold. " 2. the 196 block was the aluminum one right? how different was it from the " later 232/242/258 L6's? could this be the baisis for a nice light 4.7L " stroker? will later heads bolt up? probabaly with some minor machine work " eh? as the other andy said, the 196 has nothing to do with the 199/232/258/4.0. it was basically a prewar flathead design, small bore and long stroke, which was ultimately made in ohv and aluminum-block ohv versions. actually, they do share one thing. the 172/184/196 and the '64-'71 199/232/258 have the same block bellhousing pattern and flywheel diameter, though i don't know if the 'wheels themselves swap. '72-up sixes have the larger v8 pattern and flywheel size. ________________________________________________________________________ Andrew Hay the genius nature internet rambler is to see what all have seen adh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and think what none thought
