Re: drum brake booster...

Is the booster in the 70 Hornet angled or on one of the "up and out" brackets?
In either case, the manual brake MC bolts directly to the firewall, no brackets required. Brake lines would need to be bent, possibly ends changed (some years have different ends for disc and drum), and the pedal to MC rod changed. If it's on the "up and out" bracket that is the same for all cars, all boosters (IIRC).

The angled brackets that connect the booster directly to the pedal should be the same for drum and disc boosters in the Hornet. Both used a 7-3/4" diameter unit; drum is a single diaphragm, discs double.

Hope you find a rebuildable core! If not, get with me and I'll explain what I had to do to mount a Ford Ranger booster. Takes a little careful welding, depending on how your booster mounts. An earlier Ford (say from a late 60s/early 70s Mustang -- full size) booster should fit the Hornet, possibly without modification. I know the master cylinders will interchange (make sure you have the right bore size though).
