1980-1989 full size Jeeps (senior Jeep) use a non free flow LEFT side exhaust manifold. The change was required by the switch to the left side front output of the transfer case.

I think Frank meant to say the RIGHT side interferes with the strut rod bracket on the small cars.

Not quite Jim! They are made to replace the manifolds as used in full size Jeeps. They WILL NOT fit Hornet/Gremlin etc. without major work on the left side -- they want just a little more room than the factory free-flow manifold does, and that takes a bit of grinding on the manifold and strut rod mount to fit the small cars. You SHOULD have enough room in the American, but you may have to do some grinding on the header flange and/or strut rod bracket.

I have a set of these new Edelbrock headers albeit not yet installed. Mine are non-egr with the grey coating. As I understand it, they are direct replacements for the factory exhaust manifolds, so should work in any AMC/Jeep application using dog-leg heads. They look to be excellent quality. I have not talked to anyone that's run them to know how they hold up, ease of install, etc.

These will be going in my 390 Rambler American, which is currently scattered all over my garage...
