Jim, you're absolutely right! I didn't know they modified the design and came out with a "car" header! Nice to know.. On October 28, 2005 Frank Swygert wrote: > Not quite Jim! They are made to replace the manifolds as used in full size Jeeps. They WILL NOT fit Hornet/Gremlin etc. without major work on the left side -- they want just a little more room than the factory free-flow manifold does, and that takes a bit of grinding on the manifold and strut rod mount to fit the small cars. You SHOULD have enough room in the American, but you may have to do some grinding on the header flange and/or strut rod bracket. Frank, I think you're confusing the old Edelbrock shorty's with the new ones. The set I bought just came out this summer and are supposed to fit many AMC applications. They have been marketing a set of Jeep shorty's for some time that had interferance problems with AMC cars. The one's I purchased are P/N 65913, and are listed as correct for various Jeeps, plus "70-79 AMC Cars with 304, 360, 390, and 401 w/o A.I.R.". The catalog page is here: http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_new/mc/exhaust/head_shorty.shtml If you notice, there is a different p/n for the regular Jeep shorty's that have been around for some time now. I'm not sure, but it looks to me that the old p/n 65813 would fit Jeeps, but not AMC cars. The new p/n 65913 will fit AMC cars AND Jeep's with V8's. Anyone have more info?
