Joe,
this is a guess on my part, but i know the area around the grease caps
got a little thicker in '71 when AMC went to the new single piston
calipers. this is based on the '71 version of the machine wheel centre
cap retainers being different, slightly bulged, versus the '70. haven't
measured the difference, but maybe enough to cause this?
