Javelin Fuel System

First thanks for all the suggestions regarding my "304
missing" yesterday. I'll try most of the suggestions
soon.

I filled up the tank yesterday and noticed a fuel leak
with a full tank (naturally) so I started looking
today. It turns out that the solder connection for
the suction pipe on the fuel sender assembly is
broken. This produces a crack where the assembly
passes through the fuel sender plate on top of the
tank. I pulled the tank today and emptied all 16
gallons of fuel. The tank looks excellent inside and
out. I plan to re-solder the connection tomorrow but
I am concerned about what the heat will do to the
little plastic/fiberglass board which provides
variable resistance to the fuel gauge. I guess I'll
place a wet cloth on this area when I am resoldering.

Any suggestions are welcome.

BTW Pat Whiteside of the South Bay Amx club provided
the Jeep number for the sender O-ring Part #J0941521.

Thanks Pat.

I will also replace the saran filter on the suction
pipe and hope I can get one at the Jeep dealer.
