Re: Switch on '68 Accel Linkage Firewall Bracket

Jerry,

That's the kick down switch for the transmission. You can find a wiring diagram on my web site at http://www.mattsoldcars.com/techinfo/wiringdiagrams.shtml if you want to see how it's connected.

On my '68 AMX, which uses a bell crank and rod arrangement for the accelerator linkage, there is a switch mounted on the firewall bracket. It appears that the plunger is depressed at near full throttle by a tab. Two leads to it. What is it for? My first guess is something with transmission kickdown, but with no manual yet I am shooting in the dark.
