I spent most of the day hooking up the wireing for the wiring harness for the Auto Meter gauges and decided to put the dash in before I went home, just the main frame with the crash pad. The car has a column shift and when you put it in the different gears the column rubbed the paint off itself because it rubbed against the dash. I didn't want this to happen to my freshly painted column. So before I painted the dash itself I relieved the area of the dash where the column rubbed with a Dremil. The dash is now in except for the bolt on the hand brake bracket and the screw behind the glove box. After a long day I was tired and was having trouble getting the last screw and bolt in so I called it a day. Besides the shops owner needed a ride to my house pick up my Malibu for some brake work. All this twisting around and all has been a strain on my back and I have a slight pain in my back letting me know it is time fo!

All I can say is I am almost done with this interior job and it looks almost like a car again inside after almost 8 months. And all I can say is the black interior looks great with an orange body. I was not thrilled with an orange car but in 2 years it has grown on me and with the elimination of the puke tan interior I am happy. If and when I repaint it it will be the factory orange.

A black interior was my first choice color on my solar yellow new 65 American. Being a very young 19 year old mechanic made that an easy choice. My bought new yellow 74 Hornet Hatchback that I have driven for almost 32 years now was bought off the dealers stock with a black interior. I passed on a 74 red Matador "X" coupe with a white interior I wanted. Black is not the color of choice where sun and heat is involved but I am an old man now who still won't give up my points and carb for the sake of modern change and also the black interior. A 77 Hornet AMX rear window louver, light side window tint and a good old R-12 A/C unit should keep me happy.
