I didn't mean to imply the truck runs poorly. The pif is referring to the fact that a V-8 in the same size truck will do equal or better infuel economy! In the winter moths in stock form it got as low as 13 mpg! In the summe it did about 15.5. With a carb spacer and K&N filter and tires at 40 PSI it now does 16.6. I have the stock clutch fan back on as my aftermarket electric dies and I'm waiting for th ereplacement to come back. It isn't good enough when towing, but after I put our Pontoon bat away next month I can switch back to the electric fan for winter. Then I can get a final tally on MPG with all my mods in place! I'm hoping to get about 18 mpg in town. Which by the way is what my 96 Cherokee Sport with a 5 speed got when I drove it really hard! Not the easy driving I have to do with my S-10 to get that kind of mileage. Of course a two door sport weighs 3200Lb or so in 4X4 trim. I think the S-10 Crewcab tips the scales at 4000+ in 4X4 model. As soon as my kids are older I'll be going back to a smaller cabbed truck. I've got a want for a Comanche Longbed. I keep my eyes peeled, some day I will locate one at the right price and at the right place and time. I will add it to my to build list!
