This was standard with most of the "nightmare" cars that scared small shops in the 80's if you took the time to learn the specific problems these cars had you could make a small fortune working on cars the local shops wouldn't touch! I worked at AMC Renault dealerships and the GM techs wouldn't touch an Alliance with a 10' pole, But one other tech and myself worked on them all day long. It got to the point we would smile when they rolled in the door! You could usually count on a Crank sensor or timing belt for a no start. Brakes ETC; Head gaskets on 1.4's, Piece of cake as long as you sheared the head when removeing. I did lots of those and never ever replace liners or seals.
