AMX NHRA win

I have a co-worker that's an avid drag race fan and past racer (albeit with Cheby's). He brought me in the Sept 2 issue of National Dragster.

On Aug 11-14, there was a NHRA National meet in Brainerd, Wisconsin; Scott Pearson running a '70 AMX in Super Stock (SS/JA) won the event with a final run of 10.864/121.30 against a 10.86 dial; he had a .057 reaction time.

Two page article goes through the different rounds, but there's also a short bit on how the engine is built:

"Action Engineering's Jimmy Dean machines the 360 block that has been bored to 372 cubic inches. Pearson does his own cylinder-head and transmission worok (the transmission is a 904 Torqueflight three speed witha TCI converter) and rear ends. The electric shifter is from Trubo Action. The carburetor is a small Ford Four-barrel on a modified Edelbrock intake manifold. The valvetrain is from Comp Cams, and the pisotns are 10.2-1 compression Venolias. The crankshaft and connectiong rods are stock. The 12-bolt Chevy rear end holds 5.57 rear gears. Weld wheels carry Mickey Thompson slicks."

GREAT to see an AMC win this event! This a friend of yours Jock?
