I thought that one was a bit heavy, but then they put IHC V-8s in Scouts also! Not heavier than THAT thing! There are a number of FIVE CYLINDER diesels that hsould prove adequate. Doesn't Volvo have one? Audi? I know Mercedes uses a couple. For that matter, a Mercedes 3.0L diesel used in the 300D is either a five or six cylinder. I pretty sure the 2.5L is a five cylinder. A 3.0L turbo diesel (300TD) should be a good engine for a Jeep. For low end torque you can use a much smaller diesel than gas engine, so don't think size matters as much as it does with a gasoline engine (that remark mostly for others Andrew!)
