Not quite -- bio diesel BLENDS can be burned without adding anything. I forget what ratios commercial bio diesel is mixed at. Pure bio diesel (for lack of a better term) has to be heated to be burned in a standard diesel. Most inexpensive conversion kits include an in-tank heater that uses engine coolant to heat the veggie oil -- basically tubing in the tank with hot water running through it. The engine is started and warmed using regular diesel (or commercial bio d) then will burn the pure stuff. On a large truck it's not a big deal to carry 10-20 gallons of regular diesel and 50+ of veggie oil. On September 18, 2005 andrew hay wrote: > biodiesel burns cleaner than petrodiesel anyways.
