>The 4 core has 2 more rows of the same size tubes as the 2 core, thus twice the volumetric >core capacity. True, cooling will not be as effective in the back as the front of the radiator, as >the air is preheated. However, 4 rows increases the coolant capacity and that equates to the >same flow from the engine going into a larger capacity radiator. That causes the coolant to >move slower through the radiator giving it more time to cool. >Or so it seems to me........... That's true BUT,,, it would only come into play when the rad was at full flow. Most of the time the thermostat controls the flow. When the stat is wide open flow and capacity start to have effect. Put a stat in a pan of hot water with a thermometer and watch what happens. Does not go wide open till way over it's rated temp. I think that's a misconception a lot have about stats. If your mill is running hot a cooler stat will not necessarily make it run cooler. If the stat is wide open it's flow and cooling capacity that are determining the temp. NOT a good position to be in! But hey,,, that's just me. Bruce Hevner
