Sounds like any 12 volt winch will work.  I would look
for a good brand of winch like is used on car
trailers, jeeps and such.  You don't have to
permanently mount it, just have mounting points and
the head end of the garage in appropriate locations
and hook it to a 12 volt battery when you need it.
