I don't know what you consider to be rip-off prices,
but I bought the original vinyl materials (three
different materials) from SMS Interiors in Oregon and
had a local upholstery shop recover one bucket seat in
my 73 Javelin.  If I recall correctly the SMS
materials cost $180 or thereabouts and the local labor
was $220.   This is consistent with other upholstery
work I have had done in the past. 

I was satisfied.
