Gas tank pressure question

My 83 Eagle seems to build up a lot of pressure in the
gas tank (I filled up on Mon morning and in the
evening, after driving about 40 mi I checked the
pressue and it was so high it actually blew some gas
out!).  In contrast, my daughters 83 Spirit never has
any pressure when I remove the cap. Part of the
emission checks here in Plano, TX include checking the
gas cap and they both passed.  Is this normal, good,
bad, requires checking something?  Thanks.
