Sorry for the long delay in getting back on this subject. I had to do some research on this. I posted the info about the Harland Sharp rockers because I try and let folks know about parts that are available. This project has been an on going deal with them, and the news that they had them was GREAT! However, the info I posted turns out NOT to be accurate. WHY, well I deal with a lot of folks, and if you deal with folks ( business wise) you have to have some trust. So if Nick Alfano tells me about a part, I believe him, If Frank Swygert tells me something, I believe him ( unless I know he's wrong!LOL). That is because over the years, I have talked shop with these folks. Now that does not mean we agree on everything we talk about, or that facts don't get mixed up, and the fact that a person is not trying to deliberately miss lead you ( that I KNOW of ), lends itself to TRUST. Steve Avery, also knows me ( trust ) , and we have talked about many things. He stood up because of the post written by others. These other posts are not fully correct either, and Harland Sharp, like Steve, sees themselves being attacked in the posts. No further details needed here, and NO ONE should be INTIMIDATED ( or feel that they could be intimidated ) not to post to the list. IF so, WE have a DEEPER problem with the list, and members on it then is publicly know. The info I posted was told to me by Randy Guynn, we where talking about different parts, and Randy informed me of the Harland Sharp rockers. Now what was told to Randy was incorrect, and that was passed to me, and I passed it on to the list. SO after numerous questions about this set up, I decided to contact Harland Sharp. This took time, people to talk to were not there, calls to me, calls to them, ETC. I'm not going to give a run down of each and every fact or detail on Harland Sharp (HS), or the rockers, just this little bit of info. HS, has been in business for many years. They are MADE IN THE U.S.A. They are NOT entry level parts, and have the same type selection as others. Their quality is as good or better. I do sell HS and a LOT of other parts, including parts from Nick Alfano. Nick can buy parts from me as well and in fact WE were supposed to do the SC/360 stripe together, but Nick did not move ( like the other two I dealt with on this stripe ) on the deal, so I moved on to a repeatable company and have brought out no less then 10 stripe kits for AMC that were not available BEFORE, and added to or help correct a few others. The NEW HS rockers, are paired, like the paired bridged pivot, BUT are NOT the same. The bridged ones are "pinned" together, the new ones uses a true shaft. So the continuos shaft is incorrect . However, HS has sent a set up to Mike Luke, and Mike too has stated continuous shaft, so we shall see ( that?s TWO different sources on that info). They are available NOW, and ARE IN STOCK. What they have are parts for about 10 sets, but not all with the same rocker arm ratios, and I could have order a set on Thursday when I finally got a hold of the man I needed to talk with. Do I stock every part I sell, no, but I do stock a lot of what I sell . Most of the larger items, I don't stock, cost of shipping to me, then to my customer, I just have it drop shipped, and it saves my customer on shipping, others DON'T do this, they are worried you will find their parts source and find out what you should be paying for a part. HS rocker shaft, use pressurized oil to oil them. They have oil passages from the push rod cup to the bearings, and then forward to the roller tip, they have oil control ( restricters ), so it helps limit the oil getting to the heads and does not shoot oil all over the valve cover. This is a BIG problem for AMCs filling the cover with oil. HS also found the AMC rockers do not set "square", so when they paired the rockers up, they found you can have a push rod issues, so YES, you drill out your push rod slots to circles, as these HS rockers true up your geometry. So what we have here is a difference in construction. One shaft verses paired shafts. I like the idea of the one shaft, but ONE main reason for this is NOT addressed with Nick?s set up ( if I had been in on the loop, it might have been). Now we won't know how these two will compare until after they are run, and reports come in. Just like the Space shuttle, you have a lot of college educated folks working on it, and they all say foam on the tanks is OK, and now we find, IT'S NOT. You never know until it?s RUN! You have pressurized oil in the HS, you have splash with Nicks. I am not too sure of the splash idea ( Nick don't jump all over this), I have talked with the manufacturer, and he builds and runs similar set ups, and once again we will not know until it is run. I do LIKE the oiling on the HS. The last thing is the price. I believe Nicks will be in the $850 range, from what I have, the HS will be in the $950 range, that is full retail, and pricing could be in the $850 or lower range. I hope this clarifies things, and lets keep the crap to a minimum, or lets just forget the crap altogether. I will report on some other new items as soon as I have more to post. Andre " A.J."
