Whew, thanks for clarifying this for me, as I was just about to purchase one
with the attached resistor. So if I get this correctly, removing the radio
noise suppressor will only affect possible noises to the radio? - 'cause
right now the wiring coming from that area looks really messy.

Kim, that's a radio noise suppression condensor, not a ballast resistor.
