It's time for a general info post! If you're receiving to much mail or don't want to receive mail from the list in your mailbox, go to www.amxfiles.com and change your settings to "suspend" or "postpone". That will stop all mail and you can read messages on the web site. If you want to continue receiving mail, but volume is to high, change your settings to "digest". That collects all messages into 2-4 e-mails per day (depending on list traffic). When replying remember to edit out all unrelated messages, do not send the entire digest back to the list! You can reply/post to the list without replying to the e-mail. Simply send a message to mail@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Don't forget to change the subject header to the same as the message being replied to, or make the subject line relevant to your post. You can also post from the web site by logging in. If you subscribed to the list and no longer wish to receive it, go to www.amxfiles.com and unsubscribe. If you didn't subscribe yourself, a "friend" did it for you. There is no way to automatically be subscribed to the list -- someone had to physically enter your address or intentionally send the list server a specific message to subscribe you. To unsubscribe by sending directly to the server, use the following address from the mail service being unsubscribed: mail-unsubscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxx (subscribe by sending to mail-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxx). Note that the web site and the mail list are TWO SEPARATE ENTITIES. The web site receives mail as a list member then posts the messages to the site. No one can recall or delete individual messages -- they are all automatically sent to all members shortly after they are received. Occasionally (2-3 times a year) the link between the site and list gets interrupted, usually during the normal Internet DNS reshuffle. When this occurs, the web site may not get mail for 3-7 days. Jim Stone and I will work with our ISPs to get the link reestablished as soon as possible. It is suggested you change to "digest" mode when this occurs, or get the digest as a "backup". If you are having any problems with the list or another list member please contact me at farna@xxxxxxxx I'll try to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
