Dream Car Garage - Maybe?

I'm not sure if the US gets the Dream Car Garage which is shown on speed
vision up here in Canada, however I have a little story - its long so be
patient with me, or just scroll down!
Approximately two years ago, I contacted Active Engines to bring my Gremlin
back to life. The car had sat for nearly 20 years and there was no way that
the old 304 was going to start - besides the days of me pulling an engine
and re-building it were behind me - been there 3 times, each time something
else went wrong, so who better then to contact Active who builds engines for
Dream Car Garage. Also my brother and a close friend knew them well and they
came highly recommended.
Active persuaded me to abandon thoughts of re-building the 304 and
concentrate in obtaining a 401 - alas their abillity to find a long block
401 resulted in prices that were unobtainable and my contacts for a 401 fell
through. No matter, Active noted that 360's were easily obtained and I would
be pleased with the results.
Three months later the car was delivered with a fresh 360 - I won't go into
what they did, however I can say the performance of the car was astounding!
Since that time I have been puttering with the car, adding this, fixing up
my hack jobs from the 70's - a time when the only thing I really cared about
was to get the newest performance product on, hope it works, wax it and take
the girl to a drive-in -sigh, youth!
Anyways, in early June I was taking the car to get a new stereo installed,
on the way, I blew the header gasket. After three Sundays (all day) of
trying to replace it, I gave up and decided to call Active for help.
Active said "bring her in" and we'll get you fixed up.
Monday morning, 7:35 am enter garage, one of the builders indicated to me
that Dream Car Garage were on site to film a segment for an engine build -
sounds cool!
Tuesday - cannot find gaskets for header, they have looked high and low.
Wednesday - I contact Active, things move slow, but they do good work so I'm
not worried, Mike at Active says I have good news and I have bad news, first
the bad news, we can't find a gasket, we can't get the header out to find
why the gasket you used won't seat, but we will get this right for you, but
we have to roll her out each night as we have taken out the starter,
disconnected the engine mounts and she won't run on her own. I say
(jokingly) well thats ok, just make sure that Dream Car Garage see's the
car.
Long Pause - Mike says well....that's the good news, Dream Car saw your car
and they want to do a segment on it!
I'm astonished! Dream Car Garage wants to do a segment on my car - could my
day be any better - well maybe if my wife bought that Roots Blower I have
asked her for, for so many years, but that's another story.
So it's not a done deal, but I am so excited that they are even considering
on putting my car on the show.
Now a question, I know Gwynn (sp) had her little rambler pictured in
Hemmings so perhaps she can help me or anyone else that wants to jump in -
what things should I anticipate, how can I get the car looking it's best,
what should I say to the producers. Should I allow them to drive the car? If
anyone can give me give me directions on how best to handle the possibilty
that my little Gremlin will be on Dream Car Garage, please let me know!
I am so excited that they are considering my car - I will keep the list
updated on if and when they decide to go ahead and do a segment on it!
Thanks in advance,
Kim Bueler
