Re: Javelin roof

I have just sold a 1970 Javelin with a similar problem. I was able to find a patch panel for it in Arizona and sold the patch panel with the car. I also have a 1969 Javelin with a completely rusty roof (Polish convertible) and I was able to find a roof in the Seattle area for that car. I suggest that you watch the "parting out" type ads anywhere you can find them and inquire of the sellers about the condition of the roof. The patch panel I bought was shipped via UPS from AZ. I had to go get the whole roof for the other car in the Seattle area.

I also suggest that you let a skilled body man look at the car and get his advice on whether he can fabricate a patch panel or at least how much original replacement sheet metal would be required. You may also want to pull the windshield and assess the condition of the roof flange.

Subject: Javelin roof

Greetings, friends!

Got a problem I'm hoping someone's seen before. I recently acquired a '73 Javelin with a vinyl top. The top was rough and unready, so I removed it, to discover a serious cancer problem underneath. A lot of the upper sheetmetal by the windshield is gone; you can see the metal underneath that is the cockpit's ceiling. Anybody out there dealt with a similar problem that can give me some ideas?

Thanks!
