I had the same problem trying to get my car painted in time for the Hot Rod Magazine "Power Tour" a few years ago. Missed it by about two months, just couldn't get everything coordinated and finished in time. On August 3, 2005 Mr. AMC wrote: > Well as of the first of the month I am 3 months behind on my estimated finish date for my interior job. The last 6 weeks the heat in lower N.E. New York has been terrible, with only 3-4 days now and then with reasonable temps. I am geting close but work is going slowly, probably another 3-4 weeks. To slow for my wife as I have no storage where the car is at and only take completed interior parts out of the house when they are ready to be installed in the car so they are not damaged sitting around. Most of the floor is cleaned and painted with rust preventative paint and Dynamated except for the small rust spot I have to fix where the drivers feet are. The steering column needs to be painted and so does the replacement dash. The dash, kick panels, package tray and factory gauge pod need to be installed along with the carpet. You would think I am just about done? Well here is the next snag in the deal. The only part of the WHOLE interior job I have to farm out is getting the! 2! > bucket seats re-upholstered. There are 3 upholstery shops in a reasonable distance from where I live. The one I want to do the work is backed up. I called a month ago and he said call in 2 weeks, I called in two weeks and he said call again in 2 weeks which is today. The other shop I delt with 27 years ago the owner in now a drug addict and you are lucky if you get your stuff done in 6 months to a year I have been told buy customers of his that I know. The other shop I called and got a shop 50 miles away when it should have been only 10 miles away. It turns out the owner died 1 1/2 years ago and the shop 50 miles away is doing his work. I can't catch a break with this car. And to top it off it has been sitting in my friends shop since the middle of Feb. and is the only one of my 3 cars that has A/C. I got to be a die hard AMC man or crazy and or insane to go through all this with my poor health. The real killer of the deal is I came into a fair bit of tax free money a ye! ar! > ago so money is no object as far as getting the seats done now, and I > still have a problem. I just can't win with this car. Sorry for the rant but I am frustrated. > "Doc" > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ============================================================= > Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist ============================================================= Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist
