A: I think the subject came up while you were in the process of moving, but it didn't go too far. I know the Toyota version sucks for shifting pattern (the trans tends to give out <100,000 miles due to slippage if they tow a lot due to the low speed/RPM upshifts unless manually controlled by the driver) I haven't taken the time to go to the boneyards and research either the Toy or Volvo trans controller setup. I will be taking pics of all the control boxes and their placements in the '93 GC (I'm still trying to figure out what they all are and what I need/don't need for my J10s conversion) Since it has ABS, I'll be removing that from the equation. (It also has an unexploded airbag) I'm patching up the few broken wires I find as I go and marking all connectors (once it's all stripped out I won't know what is what without them) The cool central control system (with alarm, door ajar warning and computer error terminal) was scrunched, but I can get another cheap and it will go where the stock J10 stereo was. (It will get a welded in and water tight lock box with remote tuner and CD changer) The Grand Cherokee has boxes in the left rear 1/4, right rear 1/4, (had one in the roof but that was peeled off and folded back by rescue workers and the owner after that who wanted to make a dune buggy), between the seats, under the left rear seat, and 5 under the dash plus the HO stuff under the hood. (it has alarm, ABS, tow package, light out sensor, airbag, AC, cruise, tilt, auto-dim lights, pulse wipers, remote locks and power mirrors. ) Even the air vents are electric motor controlled! I'll be tossing the ABS system, but keeping the booster/master to upgrade my MJ's braking. It also has full time 4x4 (NV249) that I will be putting in the for sale pile. (I prefer part time) Trouble shooting why it won't start yet is taking so time though. I tried unhooking the battery and reassembling the alarm box. Fuse box took a hit and all fuses were good till I pulled the passenger's front door out of the glovebox. (surprisingly the woodgrain dash surround of the stereo and computer interface survived in 1 piece. I found it in the back by the spare tire!) This thing even came with snowflake alloys (4 on the rig, several damaged, and 4 more that had snow tires on them) From: farna@xxxxxxx Subject: Re: 727 to 518 swap... Maybe it uses an integrated drivetrain controller like the 97+ Jeeps? I haven't looked that close at it. I didn't even know it had an AW4, but since it's rear drive and Volvo has used BW designs in the past, I'm not surprised!
