Coil detailing tips

I've started the engine removal on my wagon and when I pulled the coil out,
it was the original Delco logo coil. The only bad thing about this coil is
that it's filthy and there is some rust on the body. Anyone have any tips
for cleaning the coil up and repainting?
Thanks,
Matt
P.S. I think my wagon either hates me or it's trying to out PITA my older
brother's Wrangler. One of the distributor cap screw heads rounded off (it
was the one by the engine) so I had to use a hammer and Vice-Grips to get
it off. Grrrr!
