It should be an ideal candidate for your 65.
There won't be much difference at all.
It wouldn't matter if it turned out to be a PRND21 trans as it will still work. You just loose the rear pump and maybe the kickdown cable. I don't know what year they went to vacuum control. Both my 68 trans had vacuum without a cable. IIRC.
