" six?

afaik there's no ford lifter close to amc diameter, but mopars are
identical - 0.904" iirc. with the 'traditional' aftermkt style roller
lifters i know of, no block work would be required except maybe to get
them down in there. they're prevented from turning by being linked in
pairs with tiebars, which of course have to be of a length
commensurate with lifter spacing.

one side of the lifter sticks way up above the bore, and has a button
for the tiebar end. the tiebar has keyholes; you line the lifter pair
up end to end to slip the tiebar over the buttons, then turn them
parallel to drop into the lifter bores. all very hard steel, and the
keyholes are slightly slotted to allow a little lateral action along
with lifter travel.

maneuvering the pair down into the six's lifter gallery could be quite
a challenge.
