Knocking oil pan

Andy; someone stole my American (my beater 68) and ran
over a curb; bent the xmember, lower arm and dented
the pan. I changed everything and it still clanged.
Turned out to have been a cracked bell housing sending
noises and vibrations through the pan.
When I changed the pan I didn't pull the engine, you
just support the engine with a 2x4 and chain, then
remove everything connected to the xmember. If you
have room and an uninterruped day you can swap
everything in an afternoon.
Use sturdy jackstands and blocks, give yourself plenty
of room and turn off the phone....Russ
