I just bought Beverly Hills Cop on DVD a couple weeks ago, but haven't yet watched it due to the minor snafu of not currently owning a DVD player. I remember that scene from when I saw the movie way back in the day, how the wagon first gets nailed from the rear and then somehow ends up sideways in front of the truck, briefly gets dragged for a few yards and finally gets unceremoniously shoved aside so the semi can continue its destruction of more American iron. That movie came out in 1984, so the Ambo was only 10 years old at the time. Imagine a movie nowadays where a whole bunch of 1995 cars get destroyed - you wouldn't even bat an eye or shed a tear. If you watch any action movie from the 1980s or maybe even early 1990s, you run the risk of seeing some AMCs bite the dust. One example that springs to mind is Arnie's "Red Heat", where he steals a bus near the end and proceeds to destroy several examples of 1970s full size Americana. One of them was a 1973 Ambassador sedan, just minding its own business parked at a meter when the bus absolutely demolishes it from behind. Then of course there's the infamous Gremlin scene in The Terminator. Shame on you, Ah-nold. :) I'm sure we could compile a rather lengthy list of AMCs spotted (and in some cases destroyed) in movies and TV.
