I finally got to work on the car today. The heat and humidity was up there and it was very uncomfortable. The seats are out and the carpet and AMC's carpet jute and black tar sound deadner pads too. Everything just crumbled. I have Dynamat Extreme for the drivers side of the floor because the exhaust is on that side and regular Dynamat for the rest of the floor. This is a 6 cyl. single exhaust daily driver. One of the reasons I bought this car was it was originally a Florida car and 99% rust free. It has an almost perfect floor pan except on the drivers side. It has the usual rust in the seam between the firewall and the floor pan but not that bad. So I can't really complain. With waiting for the seat insert material to arrive and the delay getting the seats upholstered this added rust repair does for a change not put me any farther behind than I already am. I probably could fudge the rust repair but I have worked so hard on making this a nice car and the German in me won't ! let me do it even though no one but me would ever know. Time to cut the rust out and weld in some new metal. I am sorry but fiberglass is not a permanant repair for me. Just my 2 cents. Time to sit in the A/C and have a glass or two of wine before the wife comes home and starts her daily rant about Hornet interior parts still in the house.
