At the top of the front carpet, there are several (4?) plastic
button/push pins holding it up. <snip>
I think they're meant for one-time use: destructive removal. <snip>
Next question: Anyone know where I can source more of them? Is this an AMC specific item, or are they fairly common?
If you could get a picture of what they look like I could probably
tell you if they're one use only or not. I work at a body shop and run
across tons of these every day. Usually the ones with something in the
middle are meant to be reused, either with a screw-in type center or a
pop-in type center. The solid ones are usually one use only (or two if
you're lucky). We have special tools to get them out (various
flat-blade screw driver type tools with slots in the middle, angled so
you can pry), but you can use flat-blades and pliers/vice grips if you
are careful. Whether you can save them all or not, walk into any body
shop and they should give you some unless they are worthless cheapskates.
