It's a tough decision for me to make, but I am selling my 1968 AMX. The car has a 343, auto trans, and all the major options (PS, PB, AC). It's in good running condition, except the brake booster doesn't seem to be working, so the brakes require a lot of effort, and the AC has not worked since I've owned the car. The body and interior both need a substantial amount of work, but I think the car should be restorable, at least as a fun weekend driver. I've put some upgrades into the car since I've owned it -- new headers, new Edelbrock carb, new front brakes, replaced the front bumper, some other smaller things -- but I have never had the money, skill or inclination to give the car the care it deserves. Somebody else should have a crack at it, and that's why I'm selling. Those of you who have been on the AMC List for a while may know that I started the list ten years ago because I needed help with my AMX. The car has huge sentimental value, and I'd love to see it go to someone on the list, so I'm not publicizing the sale anywhere else for now. Money means less to me than finding this car a good home. I'll put up some photos and more info on my web site if anyone's interested. The car and I are located in Alexandria, VA (just south of Washington, DC). Email me directly at stoneji@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx if you'd like to see the car or to get more info. Even though I won't own any AMC iron if I sell the AMX, I'll probably keep the AMX Files site going for a while (hell, I haven't been putting any time into it anyway, so it's not much of a sacrifice). I'll always have a big soft spot for AMC, even if it's unlikely that I'll ever own one again. Jim Stone 1968 AMX, 343 Auto
