One guy had a fairly complete, but badly rusted out, Machine. Another had two fairly decent '70 Rebel parts cars. My little mind was thinking that you could combine the best parts of each and come out with a nice Machine - which has always been my favorite AMC, altho I've never owned one. However, for reasons of ethics, legal concerns as stated above, and the fact it would be one big project, I passed! I just didn't want to get in the middle of something like this. In some ways, you look at it and if you took the body parts off the Rebels and used the Machine Pan, I guess that's OK, but if you re-vin'd one of the Rebel bodies to make it a Machine with all the other correct Machine parts, then that's not. You're mixing half'n'half regardless, but one is OK, and one is not. Remember the '71 Machine that was sold recently on Ebay? I forget the guy's name, but he had a website that I had read through that showed all the work put in to bring that car back. It was also completely rusted out iirc, and required whole new sections of body and pan. Where does the original car end and non-Machine car start? I do understand the difference, but my point is that sometimes "restorations" require parts cars up to a point where there's more part car than original car, but I'd guess the basis is using the original pan/chassis. Just my opinion/no flames here... Jim Boone Mims, FL ============================================================= Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist
