In the last couple years I had come to realize that the only car I really was positive I just had to have (that I don't already) was a 70 390 AMX. So a couple months ago I was lamenting over getting rid of one we had a few years ago (for various reasons). I have also been watching prices on the BJA and e-bay for the last couple years, and had started to think I was priced out of the game and there was no way I would ever be able to afford my dream car. Long story short, even thought the timing was ALL WRONG for me, I "found a way" to make sure that wouldn't happen, and now I have 2. One very nice pro-street car, and another restoration project (Big Bad Blue/Shadow Mask 390/4-spd). And it didn't hurt that bad. It is in this vein that I tell you all right now, If you are after a certain AMC model car and just know you will have to have it, you BETTER be looking to buy one real soon (unless you are expecting a big inheritance in the near future), cuz things are fixin' to get stupid! There's my market analysis for the year. While prices go up parts become available, the price to get an old AMC goes up too. I predict that 5-10 years from now the price of an AMX or Javelin in good condition will be way up there, forget about one already restored! The late American will be right behind it because of the similarity to the SC/Rambler. While the SC/360 is a collectible, it never had the notoriety of most of the other AMC muscle cars. This will push more people into the Hornet/Gremlin/Concord/Spirit camp, which will in turn push those prices up a little, but not as much as the more popular cars. There should be more of the later available too. It's a vicious cycle!
