Hello AMCers, I'm rebuilding my AMC Model 20 and thought I had all the parts ready to go. I need to replace the thrust washers in the carrier assembly with some thinner ones. Here's what I need. Two thrust washers .030 to .035 inches thick. These are the two flat thrust washers about 2 7/8" OD that go behind the splined spider gears. (Not the smaller concave ones that go behind the other two floating spider gears). I'm replacing the spider gears with a locker and need some thinner thrust washers for everything to fit together. I read where they were made in different thickness. My original ones are .061 and .056 inches. None of my local auto parts places has any idea. The local Jeep dealer said they do not carry parts for the Model 20 and disposed of all of their older catalogues. I spent several hours on the Internet looking at Jeep parts and forums etc. with no success. I have a ring and pinion install kit but it does not include these parts. If I cannot find these somewhere, I'll get a machine shop to make me a pair. I wonder if a similar part from a different make of rear end could be used? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated! As always, thanks to the AMC List for providing such a good service to us AMC fans. Bill Garwood Elizabeth City, NC Member NAMDRA, AMO, Carolina AMC
