A: The tunnel is about 1/4 mile long and the burning car was in the middle. (looked like an early '80s VW van) As I went past, the flames were getting higher and I quickly assessed the situation as I approached that the only person was away from the car and talking calmly on a cellphone on the upwind side of the scene. (if someone was inside, I would hope they would be waving their arms around trying to flag someone down. My fire extinguisher was already empty and I had my breathing apparatus at hope as I was using the cutting torch just before this trip to get a '93 YJ 2.5L with 5 speed and NP231 plus the whole injection harness) The cars that were stopped in the smoke were right outside the far end of the tunnel and people would've smashed into them if they didn't move. (as I almost did) All they could see from that point was thick acrid smoke and I sure as heck didn't want to smell it! From: farna@xxxxxxx Subject: Re: I need to be faster with the camera phone! If they were stopping to help it would be one thing, but most were likely stopping just to look. If 1-2 vehicles have already stopped to help more just backs traffic up even worse.
