Re: {FORGED?} Carpet And Upholstery Advice Needed (Gwen?)

Just to give you some comparisons-

I took the front and rear seats to Leathermenders, a local shop in Austin, TX to whom I used to refer quite a bit of work when I was in the body shop. They quoted me $1300.00 for a simple but very nice set of custom seat covers.

I told them forget it and ended up taking my seats to a young guy that took over his father's business. The father did some excellent work years ago for me but sadly retired. The kid did a magnificent job and it cost me $600.00. I had to run them down to a little town outside San Antonio but it was worth it.

Austin has the highest cost of living in Texas and San Antonio is MUCH lower even though it is only 90 miles away.

I would spend some time shopping around get references from other gearheads in your area.

First of all on the carpet. How do I get the fold/creases out of my repo carpet. It has been in the box for 3 months since I bought it. Next I got a price of 1,000$ to re-upholster the rear seat and the 2 buckets black. I have a perfect black rear seat out of my yellow Hatchback. I would like to use that and need to find the insert material to match the back seat so I can use it on the front ones. I have the door tag off my yellow car for the trim no#'s. Can anyone steer me in the right direction to were and how I can buy some of this material. Other wise I will have to have all 3 seats done so they match. Where and how did you get the propper material for the little car Gwen? I am into this interior for 2,000$ so far in parts and materials with me doing all the work so far. I haven't driven the car since mid Feb. and am finally getting to get into the final assembly. The seats are the only thing I can't do myself. I am way over budget on this whole project and if I can need!
to save a few bucks if I can. By the time I get a nice paint job and the interior and mechanical work completed I will have 10,000$ in this 500$ car.
