SO, the freshly rebuilt 401 has great oil pressure when it's started, and when it's got some RPM going. Once warmed up and at idle it has Zero pressure. The only thing this fellow did not do himself was the cam bearings and that was my first thought. He swapped the timing cover with a known good engine timing cover with the same result, so it's not the pump or cover. Any other ideas?
