Well, Sergeant is a French term. Basically meaning a servant soldier in charge of lesser soldiers( subservient ot knight status in the british Isles) more of a role than a rank in pre- middle age times- evolved into a rank of officer whom was not commissioned but could be conscripted instead. So the "Sarge' comes full circle, eh misseur? (Mon Dieu!) "... B & E Transmission in San " Francisco, ordered pens that had ...the " phrase "Buy American" on them. They were upset that they also said " "Made in Germany". boy that's gotta hurt... when 9/11 happened a local fellow got his car in the papers with a very patriotic red/white/blue stars-'n-bars paint job. the car was a new beetle. nobody mentioned the irony. ________________________________________________________________________
