Re: My (new to me) 1967 American

Frank,

The only place the paint's not original is the tail gate (the rear bumper has also been previously straightened and rechromed and I think the machined turned panel was replaced with NOS, I don't recall the details of the incident but it was pretty minor and from two owners ago). The car doesn't leak at all but there is another rust spot in the quarter near the rocker panel on the driver's side. For some reason, I seem to have this ever growing collection of used sheet metal so I have patches for both rust spots. Send me your address and you can have the quarter panel rust from the car when I'm done with it!

I haven't done much to the 68 lately (biggest thing lately was replacing the intake manifold gasket and related hardware) due to lack of time and I've been spending a lot of car money on my mouth (kids, don't stay away from the dentist!). Once I get the wagon back on the road, I'm going to dig into the 68 again.

Great looking car! I thought that was all trim along the bottom until I saw the rust spot in the rear quarter. Probably the only one on the car unless there's a cowl leak! I guess it was painted by a previous owner along the rocker to repair/cover chips -- I don't think it's factory. I sure wouldn't mind having it though!

I looked on your site -- what's up with your 68? Nothing posted since Aug. 2003...
