Seriously, I was 50 this yr, so got my DL in '71. I worked at 3 gas stations in short order: a Kayo discount station where gas was commonly ~.26 for regular, then a Sunoco that was a little bit higher, but had the revered Sunoco 260 (lots of era musclecars came in to that station to fill up), then to a Shell station that had pricey gas for ~.34 for reg iirc. The .60/gal gas didn't really hit until about '74 and the oil embargo with rationing on odd/even days based on your liscense plate. I was in the Navy by then stationed in Virginia Beach, VA driving a big V8/4 sp car. You had to line up for gas every other day to get your few bucks worth. I remember at the Kayo folks would drive up, get $1.00's worth of regular in their old cars, and you had to pump it, wash the windshield, clean the headlights, AND check the oil if they wanted! Learned to hustle esp when it got busy... Jim Boone Mims, FL ============================================================= Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist
