Last time I replaced the master on my American, I use a 79 Mustang manual brake unit, Don't ask!, Anyway, Last time I replaced it, I bought one exchanged the core, didn't check the new one, big mistake, Installed it, rod was too short, took it back. It was two days later, my core was gone. We pulled another from the shelf, it was too short. Crap no what do I do? The parts guy says, hold on a minute we have one more. We pulled it. It was longer and correct! So yes they can and do miss box more then one part at a time! It makes sense, when they change from boxing one product to another, if the boxes don't run out at the same time as the parts change over, some will be boxed wrong. Also, we used to get Nissans in all the time with wheel trim rings and full hubcaps in the same car. or, missmatched tires. Same reason, parts come down the line in the wrong order, they go in the wrong place!
