Re: Car Craft Rambler

Well... consider the magazine and the kind of people who read it. I'm surprised that no one suggested using it in a demo derby or giant truck rodeo.

In 10 years, there will be few if any "stock" AMCs left - which is a great pity. There won't be much point in touting the virtues of American Motors if the products and their qualities have all been rubbed away by boy racers, hot rodders and shade tree idiots who just know they can 'improve' on anything a team of very good automotive engineers designed. If you really want to go fast, buy a Japanese car!

Why not ask a "Classic" or "Vintage" car magazine readership what their opinion might be of the categories offered?

It's all moot in any event because ten years from now, the only cars which will be of interest - even if there are still a few of us "car guys" left - will be rice rockets. V8 engines will be deemed only suitable for selling to fishermen with a length of rope attached and gasoline will be $10 per gallon - if it is still sold that way.

Hmm, I wonder if my Matador Barcalounger will run on liquid hydrogen? Hmmm....

Well, I was gonna say anything but pro-street, but I also have to say
anything but one of the race car options or pro-street.

Subject: Car Craft Rambler

Some of you may remember that I mentioned Car Craft magazine had bought a
67 4dr. Rambler and planned on installing a 360 V-8 in it. Then on their
web site they decided to have a poll to see what to do with it. I believe
they thought it was in such nice condition that they shouldn't modify it.

Here are the results of the poll:

 Fast Street Car (11s): 38%
 Slow Race Car (12s): 24%
 Pro Touring: 17%
 Faster Street Car (10s): 8%
 Pro Street: 4%
 Stoopid Street Car (9s); 3%
 Fast Race Car (8s): 1%
 Stock Restoration: 1%
 Leave It Alone: 0%

It would be nice to have a poll on the list and see how you all feel.
