I posted that the Megane reminded me of the Premier... at least the early 90s models. I'm so glad I made the comment about 90s models! I just took a look at the 2005 models. Not pleased with the "sedan" (looks more like a wagon, sort of in the style of the new Malibu.... something-or-other). The coupe version for some reason looks VERY Nissanish.... ;> At least I can see how the Vel Satis luxury car failed -- styling is a bit far-out, and not in a good way to my eye! But I think the 63-64 Classic is one of the best designs to roll out of AMC, along with the 68-70 Javelin (never cared a lot for the humpster for the same reason most who love it do -- aggressiveness) and 70-88 Hornet et al. The Matador Coupe is a fine design also, just the wrong car for AMC, along with the early Pacer (though I don't particularly care for Pacers). Both shared nothing with other cars, and the Pacer's main drawback was weight. If the Pacer had performed better and had a bit better economy it just might have survived. If AMC had went ahead with the four door a couple years after the intro to replace the Matador it may have made a big positive difference as well. Just two door models limits sales to much, and would have shown more committment on AMCs part. To bad they just didn't have the money to commit for the tooling, especially when the tooli! ng for the Mat sedan/wagon (which was still selling reasonably well) was pretty much paid for. More work was needed on the engines as well. Oh what we all would/could be doing or have done but for lack of $$$$$ !!!!! ============================================================= Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist
